Hello there! My name is Jenifer Burns and this is my tenth year teaching Physical Education at McFadden School of Excellence.
I grew up here in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and I am a product of Rutherford County Schools. I attended Kittrell Elementary School and Oakland High School, where I played basketball and softball. In 2008, I received my Bachelors from Middle Tennessee State University specializing in Physical Education and Secondary Education.
My teaching philosophy can be summed up in a single quote by Rita Pierson: "Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be." Every day I enter my classroom willing to be that champion for every face staring back at me. I feel it is my duty to ensure that they believe so deeply in themselves that they understand just how capable they are of changing lives in the same way that I hope I am changing theirs. Each child that comes to my class will move with both confidence and competence from receiving quality Physical Education.
When I'm not teaching or coaching, I enjoy spending time with my family & friends. I also enjoy attending sporting events, running 5ks, barre, making crafts, and a yummy cup of coffee.
