Welcome

After graduation from Union City High School in 1985, I attended Middle Tennessee State University on a basketball scholarship for two years. In 1989 I earned my first B. S. Degree in Psychology and my second B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1991, both from MTSU. While teaching Kindergarten at LaVergne Primary School for 6 years, I completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at MTSU. I then transferred to Barfield Elementary School and taught 2nd grade as well as coached girls' basketball and girls track in grades 5-8 for 2 years. In 2000, I moved back to Union City and was hired by First Methodist Church of Union City to organize First Friends Preschool for infants through 4 years old. As Director, I developed the curriculum, hired the staff, and was the 4-year-old lead teacher. I then taught in the Union City School System as a 2nd grade teacher for 2 years. In 2003, I returned to the Rutherford County School System to teach 2nd grade at Wilson Elementary for 2 years. I then taught Kindergarten for 5 years at Homer Pittard Campus School and completed my Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision at MTSU in 2009.  For 9 years, I enjoyed teaching evening courses at MTSU as an adjunct professor for the Elementary and Special Education Department. As I enter my 32nd year of teaching, and my 16th at McFadden, I enjoy every day working in a Magnet School environment.  I love children and the challenge each new year presents. My hobbies are gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, golf and outdoor activities. I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my little Yorkie, Tillie.
