About Mrs. Mathews

I am so thankful to be a part of the McFadden family!  I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Middle Tennessee State University.  I have taught for 24 years; I spent 7 years teaching “Big K” and 8 years teaching Kindergarten Readiness.  This is my tenth year at McFadden and my second year in third grade.  My favorite aspect of MSE is the family and community we help to grow.  My daily prayer is that your child leaves at the end of each day with some little nugget of knowledge, wisdom, and/or character that he/she didn’t have when the morning bell rang.

I have been married to my husband, Brent, for 22 years, and we have two children, Cole (15, high school freshman) and Allie (12, first year of middle school).  When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to concerts (my favorite place to see a show is the Ryman Auditorium!), reading, and listening to podcasts.  I tend to read non-fiction for health and wellness, and my favorite podcasts are the Jocko Podcast and the Huberman Lab Podcast.  I believe in health from the inside-out; I try to eat healthfully more frequently than I don't (a real Coke is required when you eat Mexican!).  I fell in love with CrossFit and weight-training 6 years ago, and I always feel better when I have moved my body.

I have enjoyed watching the current family of students at McFadden grow throughout the years, and I look forward to continuing relationships with the families of third grade!
