Kiddle is a safe visual search engine for children.
Sites that Cover Multiple Subjects:
Fact Monster contains an almanac, atlas, encyclopedia, spell checker, and a thesaurus.  This site is helpful for students who are looking to increase skill level in History, Geography, Math, Language Arts, and Science.  Games are also available to play.
PBS kids is a great site that is appropriate for elementary students.  There are games, videos, and contests based on your favorite PBS television shows.
National Geographic Kids
National Geographic Kids is designed so students can explore games, videos, and information about all types of animals.
Social Studies

National Civil Rights Museum - This site is appropriate for elementary and middle school students.  The students are encouraged to take a virtual tour to better understand this time period.

Lewis and Clark Expedition - This source is appropriate for upper elementary students.  It expands on the PBS film and students are afforded the opportunity to play either Lewis or Clark.

The Presidents of the United States of America - This source is appropriate for elementary and middle school students.  It includes photographs of each of the presidents and links to other external sources of quality information.

FBI for Kids - This source is appropriate for elementary and middle school students.  It helps students learn about FBI investigations, safety tips, and jobs.

U S States and Maps Puzzles - Students drag a state to the correct place on the map.

Seterra - Map quiz games are located at this site.

Lizard Point - More quizzes on the United States of America are housed here.  Teacher information is also available through a tab at the top of the page.

NASA Climate Kids - This site answers questions about global and climate change while offering games and activities.

CSI: Web Adventures - This site allows you to test your forensic science skills and is appropriate for fifth grade students.  

Earth and Moon Viewer - This site allows the student to see what the earth, moon, and other planets.  This site is appropriate for fourth and fifth grade.

Cyberchase- Students can play games and read about one of their favorite shows.

Choose My Plate- Students can play games to help understand what healthy foods will help them look and feel healthy.

CBC Kids - This site is appropriate for elementary and middle school students.  Games, science, pop culture, and videos are available. 

Catch the Science Bug - This site is appropriate for elementary and middle school students.  Students can learn about science experiments, investigations, and what happens on the job if you are a scientist.

Ask a Biologist - This site is appropriate for elementary and middle school students.  A student can explore biology through puzzles, quizzes, and games.  

ARKive- This site is appropriate for elementary and middle school students.  This site provides a guide for students to see the most endangered species.

Scholastic Kids - This website is designed for students that are 8-12 years of age.

Scholastic Family Playground - This website is designed for children between the ages of 3-7.  

Funbrain (Books)- Funbrain.com is for both reading and math.  This link takes you to the reading portion of the website.

Storyline Online- This site contains books that are read dramatically by actors or actresses.

Math Dictionary for Kids - This site is appropriate for elementary and middle school students and provides a math dictionary for students.

Funbrain (Math) - Funbrain.com is for both reading and math.  This link takes you to the math portion of the website.

Fact Monster - Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts can be practiced here.

Cool Math Games - Games of strategy, skills, number, and logic are present here.

Multiplicaiton.com - Students play games as they learn to multiply with ease.

Multiplication.com - by using this link, a student can take a self-assessing quiz.

Math Playground - Skill sets are divided into grade levels.  Students can work at a level that challenges them.
